The Oliver Lions Club was granted its charter on March 5, 1979 sponsored by Osoyoos Lions.

Since its inception, our service club has tried to fullfill the motto "We Serve" with community involvement by fundraising for worthy causes and lending financial assistance whenever possible.

A major project in Oliver was the construction of Lions Park completed at a cost of approximately $150,000 in labour and materials.  We also assisted in the construction of the skateboard park in Lions Park as well as installing new play ground equipment and updating the picnic tables.

Other local projects include operating the Oliver Arena concession during the winter months, support to other organizations such as Oliver Food Bank, Camp Winfield, Easter Seal House  Kelowna General Hospital's state-of-the-art surgery wing, which began as a single room in the hospital's basement, collection of pull-tabs, collection of used eye glasses plus many more projects.

Through Lions Club International, Lions have made a difference all over the world. Oliver Lions have assisted towards mobile hospitals for eye operations in Third World Countries and contribute to international emergency disaster fund LCIF, assist in providing clean drinking water, building schools and improving maternal and child health care through CARE.

Our club concentrates on programs for the young people and those requiring a "lift" to make their lives more satisfying.
